Frequently Asked Questions

Please see answers to our most commonly asked questions below. If what you’re looking for isn’t covered here please feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to help!

How long can we keep the skip for?

Standard hire is 7 days, please contact us if you require the skip for longer.

Is it any cheaper for a shorter hire period?

Unfortunately not, as skips are priced to include our costs for transport and disposal of waste. These costs are the same whether the skip is hired for 1 day or 7 days.

Will the skip fit on my driveway?

All of our skips are designed to fit on a standard driveway. As a general rule, if you can get a car parked on there, we can get a skip in for you. If you’re unsure, just give us a call and we will try and advise you.

Do I need to be in for delivery / collection?

No, as long as your skip is paid for and access is clear we can drop without anybody needing to be at home, providing you have given us permission to do so.

What cannot be placed in the skip?

The following are not permitted in our skips under any circumstances:
Hazardous & toxic waste, animal waste, faeces, asbestos, clinical & medical waste, gas cylinders, fluorescent tubes, solvents, liquids, oils.

The following items can only be placed in skips with prior agreement:
Food, fridges & freezers, tyres, paint tins, TVs & monitors, carpet, roofing felt.
If you wish to book a skip containing any of these items, please phone us on 01253 693636.

How do I load my skip and how full can it be?

Heavy items must be loaded first, and evenly spread across the base of the skip. All items must be loaded safely. The skip should be loaded level with the sides of the skip. Overloaded skips cannot be collected as it is illegal for the driver to transport unsafe loads. Additional charges may apply where skips have been overloaded and a collection has failed as a result.

What if I do not have a driveway or private property for the skip to be placed on?

We are able to obtain council permits which allow skips to be placed on the road in most circumstances. Please see full information on our permits page.

What happens to the waste from the skip?

All skips are returned to our waste transfer station based in Blackpool, where the contents are sorted in order for us to send as little as possible to landfill. We make every effort to recycle as many items as possible.

Do you hire skips with drop down doors?

Operated incorrectly, drop down doors can be very dangerous, so for the safety of our customers we no longer provide this type of skip.
